Born and raised in Alabama, I had little exposure to extreme music. I simply fell in line with what my parents were listening to and bobbed along to 70's and 80's rock and old-time Country. At the age of ten, I was exposed to Napalm Death's Fear. Emptiness. Despair. album and have been hooked ever since. I love nearly every form of extreme metal music, but find myself really drawn to technical death, grindcore, and deathcore. I am a 23 year old metal advocate, strongly supporting metal music in numerous ways. I'm a 16 year old Jesus-loving surf bum originally born in Brick, New Jersey. Currently residing in Palm Harbor, FL along with four other siblings, I moved here in August of '09. When I was 12, I stumbled across Metallica's Black Album, and I've been a lost cause ever since. I had moved to Knoxville, Tennessee when I was entering 7th grade and quickly became involved in the local music scene. My interests grew into other genres of metal and now I am a fan of almost any type you can think of, as long as it absolutely rocks. Entering high school, my interests in music grew along with my love of surfing, gaming, race cycling, and playing music. I play guitar and bass and a plethora of random brass, woodwind, and string instruments. Writing for The NewReview is a great way for me to spread the word about this great music we all know and love.

Best Live Show He's Seen: Shai Hulud at The Croft, Bristol. There were like five of us watching from about two feet away. Singer spent more time with us than with the band.
Most Overrated Band: Of all time? Kiss. I never got the deal with them. Dress like death metallers, sing/play like Starship.
Most Underrated Band: Either Rolo Tomassi or iwrestledabearonce

I'm a geek - I work as a techie for a computer company - who has a creative side. I draw, illustrate, design, write and have sung in a few bands (currently trying to get one together.). I love good films that make you think, videogames, kickboxing and my wife and two cats. I got into music via skateboarding videos back in the day and bands like Dinosaur Jr. (who I still love.) I like technical ability, coupled with good vocals and interesting lyrics.

Best Live Show He's Seen: The Chariot, hands down. It was the most intense show I've ever seen. I remember it like it was yesterday.
Most Overrated Band: Converge, The Number 12 Looks Like You, Norma Jean and Dillinger Escape Plan. Never got the deal with those bands. And Metallica, but that's a given.
