Above all else, I'm a wife and mom. Secondly, I'm a tech geek who is ridiculously addicted to all things design related. I'm also a lover of minimalism. Married to Lee (founder of The NewReview), so I'm constantly exposed to new music - and not always voluntarily. Freelance web designer, developer, and owner of Redhead Design. I believe men should wear mens pants and sing like men. My first exposure to metal was listening to Black Sabbath's Paranoid on cassette tape when I was around 8 years old. It's been a long road since then.

I've been listening to heavy music since before your parents were born. Just look at my avatar; pretty sad, huh? The nice part though is that even though it's chilly in my mom's basement, she brings me sandwiches cut up into fourths along with a pickle I never eat and a can of Pringles. Everything I know from music, I learned from HeeHaw, Laurence Welk, and the Donnie and Marie Show.

Listening to aggressive music loud aswell as listening to loud music aggressively is a huge passion. My heroes are bands that break boundaries that we didn't even know were there. Metalhead, musician, rabid sports fan, TV and film junkie, that's pretty much me. Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, I grew up listening to metal and have never stopped. I play guitar in a technical death metal band along with fellow scribe Eric Burnet. I started writing reviews about 8 years ago on metal-archives and found this wonderful site to write for. Musically I can listen to anything from bubblegum pop to brutal death metal whilst rummaging through prog and jazz. Variety in music is a great thing and that's something I love about TNR. Hailz and all that good stuff!

Born and raised in Alabama, I had little exposure to extreme music. I simply fell in line with what my parents were listening to and bobbed along to 70's and 80's rock and old-time Country. At the age of ten, I was exposed to Napalm Death's Fear. Emptiness. Despair. album and have been hooked ever since. I love nearly every form of extreme metal music, but find myself really drawn to technical death, grindcore, and deathcore. When not banging my head and reviewing albums, I can be found writing about the Atlanta Falcons on TheFalcoholic.com, where I'm an Editor and Writer.

Favorite Bands: This is like asking me to pick the favorite hair from the top of my head - I have a lot of favorites, from many different genres. Those bands that I always seem to come back to are Metallica, Slipknot, KISS, Pantera, DOWN, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, As I Lay Dying, Artimus Pyledriver, among many, many others. I enjoy quirky stuff, too, like Powerglove and Psychostick, as well as power metal and industrial sounds such as Scar Symmetry, Sonata Arctica, Within Temptation, and (of course) In Flames..
Album He Couldn't Live Without: Metallica's "Master of Puppets" - one of the most influential albums of all time, in my opinion. As much as NWOBHM may have affected the sound of Metallica, "Master of Puppets" forever changed the entire landscape of heavy music.
Best Live Show He's Seen: Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson are at the top, mainly because of the fact that I enjoy the combination of their theatrics with their music.
Most Overrated Band: Megadeth - Dave Mustaine is a perfect example of the old saying "better to remain silent and allow people to think you an idiot than to speak and remove all doubt".
Most Underrated Band: Devin Townsend Band - Stop what you're doing and go listen to "Accelerated Evolution", right now.

30-something guy - married, IT professional by day, attack Dachshund trainer by night (no, really - come into my house uninvited and you'll find out what it feels like to have your ankles chewed off). I'm a geek in every sense of the term and quite proud of it. Comics, professional wrestling, movies, music; you name it and I can probably rattle off some useless piece of trivia pertaining to the topic at hand. When it comes to music, I tend to gravitate towards aggressive, upbeat styles as I've always believed that music should be a source of energy and inspiration. I don't like to constrain myself to specific styles as I'm willing to give pretty much anything the benefit of doubt, however I particularly appreciate thrash, hardcore, sludge, industrial, and power metal. I'm a fan of many different genres of music beyond just what falls within the realm of metal, though, which is probably why I have a soft spot for bands with sounds that combine a variety elements and styles.

Favorite Bands: (in no specific order...) Opeth, Dream Theater, Queen, Soundgarden, In Flames, Soilwork, Metallica, Megadeth, Boston, Meshuggah, Textures, Porcupine Tree, King's X, Tesla, Agalloch, Deftones, Sevendust, The Tea Party, Zao, The Smashing Pumpkins, Dark Tranquillity, The Darkness, Corrosion of Conformity, Days of the New, Alice in Chains, Gojira, Hacride, and WAY too many more... (I know, I know, this is the weirdest list ever lol)
Album He Couldn't Live Without: We'll have to go with three because there is no way I could pick just one... The Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream, Soundgarden - Superunknown, and King's X - Dogman (man, that was WAY too hard... I'll probably change it in a week)
Best Live Show He's Seen: Either Porcupine Tree and 3 @ The Egg in Albany, NY, or Soundgarden last summer @ The Molson Canadian Ampitheater in Toronto
Most Overrated Band: Three-way tie between... Slayer, Avenged Sevenfold, and Nickleback
Most Underrated Band: Probably King's X

First and foremost, I am a Christian, and that should say more about who I am than anything else. I am a lover of music and a guitar player. I went to Roberts Wesleyan College for English, and now I work as an electrician. I still remember the first time I heard anything that was heavier than Metallica was at the end of high school and my best friend, at the time, showed me Clayman by In Flames. Even though I hated the screaming and growling at the time, I was hooked on the sound. Then college came around and I heard In Flames again, along with Soilwork, and there was no turning back. I dove in, head first.

Misplaced barbarian lost in time, trying to remember that not all villages need be pillaged in this century. I like all kinds of metal from the kind you swing at your enemy to the kind you bang your head to - power metal and death metal are my staple. I believe that a one time carpenter from Nazareth has the benchmark on Truth. Believe and intrust, that is the groundwork of faith.
