Megadeth – Endgame
It’s pretty awesome that Megadeth are still releasing albums every two or three years at this stage in their career. Obviously, the alive and kicking state of metal doesn’t hurt, but kudos to Dave anyway for giving his fans what they want.
Endgame fits in comfortably in the new era of Megadeth alongside United Abominations and The System Has Failed. Many seasoned bands go through a lengthy identity crisis after so many active years, but Dave really seems to know what Megadeth is and means in the 2000s and he’s sticking to it.
His song choices are sometimes perplexing though. Most of the numbers are a healthy mix of speed metal, sing-along hard rock, and guitar driven mania that made the early 90s Megadeth albums classics. But others kind of meander around, pushing unclear lyrical messages (“44 Minutes”) or driving a single riff idea for a whole song about racing (“1,320″).
As much as I tried to pay attention, the album loses me every time starting on track 3 and then pulls me back in during the intro of the title track. It’s too bad because the other seven songs are just great. In this digital age of playlisting, one can easily filter out the lesser numbers, but it takes away from the satisfaction of just spinning a whole LP.
Some of the best material is at the end, with “Headcrusher” thrashing faces right off, and “The Right to Go Insane” featuring one of the catchiest ‘deth choruses since Countdown to Extinction.
If you combined the best material from Endgame and United Abominations, you’d have a completely untouchable album that would go down as a rival to Rust In Peace. Judging the situation all depends on what you’d rather, one great album for the ages or several with the band returning to town every year on tour.

Yes, maybe someday I'll grow up to be a weird internet troll instead of a reviewer.

So you call yourself a reviewer? Self proclaimed! Indeed! Indeed!

Ok, this has become ridiculous. I mean really, come on…
I believe EVERY SINGLE STAFF member is fantastic at what they do. Just because you disagree with a review does not mean that that reviewer is incapable of offering their unique perspective. It only means that your opinions differ, that's all…nothing more, nothing less. Take a review as only an opinion….plain and simple.
I read somewhere that you said that our staff "gangs up on people" who disagree. Actually that is not the case. Years and years of going to sites and reading where people tear the reviewer to shreds because a difference of opinion showed me one of two things. Either the reviewer could care less what you thought, looking like an egotistical prick; or they run and hide, making them look like a spineless coward. I have a true passion for music and I have a staff that is the exact same way. Constructive criticism is ALWAYS accepted, but death threats and the sort will not be tolerated. The only people who complain about the staff interaction are the people who talk smack and aren't prepared to have someone call them out on it. The staff commenting encourages the reader to voice their opinions and as long it's on the level, it's all good. That's just the way it is and that will never change.
I have both Twitter and Facebook and I am anything but a troll. Sorry, just the facts.
In the end, it's all about coming to a site, learning about new bands and interacting with each other for the love of music.
Just my two cents…

Oh and I keep seeing a TREND from the MASSES! A lot of bands are requesting that you guys remove the reviews cause they MOST of them SUCK and after reading Eric's HALF ASSED review of Slayer I agree as well.
Petty is as petty does!

Actually man, there has only been three labels (not bands) that have asked to "wait" on the samples. It's because they didn't want the samples to leak. But thanks for the concern…:)
Seriously, whats your deal? Ha Ha Ha! Just talking smack to talk smack…..lol!

I'd be completely open to constructive criticism on my writing. If you think my reviews suck, please point out why and how I could make them better.
If it's my opinion you don't like, then I don't care.
Also on the troll thing, you are sticking around on a site you have stated you dislike, simply to criticize us and continue arguing. That is by definition what an internet troll does. If you are indeed not a troll, there are only two ways to prove it, 1) put your money where your mouth is and offer actual suggestions or 2) entirely stop posting on any of these threads.

Nah, I too love music and love to read about bands and watch DVD's and such! But I left a simple comment about a Half Asked review from Eric and the first comment that I got back belittled me because I used a different term which Eric was not accustomed to. So of course that's when the tirade began. Then two of the your staff members started in on me. What's a guy to do in a situation like that? Raise HELL ha ha ha ha
Anyway, I am sure you guys take a ton of shit but I wasn't trying to be a dick or anything like that.
Sorry!
Can we get a review on Municipal Waste "Massive Aggressive"???????

Hey sladetroityer…
Maybe things got a little screwed up somewhere….who knows. I don't think any of the staff was looking to start anything with you though. I think it was just because you kind of talked down to Eric. We are like family here, so we all stick up for one another……..but It's all good man.
We really don't get too much crap other than fans of band's who hate the reviewer because he/she gave it an album they love a bad review. But as you know, you take the good with the bad….that's the nature of the beast. So no worries…
Take a look around, I am more than sure you will find something that we can agree on……well, maybe
Take it easy man…
