Lacrimas Profundere – The Grandiose Nowhere
Goth rockers Lacrimas Profundere’s latest album The Grandiose Nowhere is full of nothing but deep, dark depression. If you’re looking for an album to cheer you up, this most definitely isn’t it. These guys sound like a cross between Paradise Lost and 69 Eyes, in my opinion. This shouldn’t really come as a surprise because the album is produced by John Fryer, who also produced bands such as HIM, Depeche Mode and Paradise Lost.
The Grandiose Nowhere starts off with “Be Mine In Tears” with an eerie early Paradise Lost sound, then goes in to a bridge which is easily followed by a grand filled chorus. Immediately, I could tell just how talented these guys are. That’s when I found out they were on Napalm Records (known for Gothic metal). “The Letter” continues with the darkness, opening with keyboards that are reminiscent of HIM’s song “The Sacrament”. “The Letter”, yet again, has a very catchy chorus and is a well structured song.
You can definitely tell these guys grew up listening to The Sisters of Mercy and Type O Negative. Singer Rob Vitacca has a one of a kind voice which sounds somewhere along the lines of Peter Steele and Ville Valo. The biggest difference between Lacrimas Profundere and other goth bands is that they tend to let the vocals overshadow the rest of the music. This is why this type of music isn’t for everyone.
There really aren’t any tracks on this album that stand out to me besides “Be Mine In Tears” and “The Fear of Being Alone”. And just by reading those song titles, you practically know how the lyrics are.
While this is a good album, it still has its downfalls. Goth rock is nothing special. It’s nothing your going to listen to and be surprised with. It’s just like with Obituary – when you buy one of their albums, you’re gonna get Obituary. When you buy a Marilyn Manson album, you’re gonna get his style. And the same applies to Lacrimas Profundere. While they are talented musicians and good at what they do, the riffs are repetitive, the vocals are shallow and the drums are dull. If you’re not into goth rock, you won’t like this. If you like goth music, then I’m sure you’ll love this.

Their last album was really good, it reminded me a lot of The 69 Eyes.

Their last album (Songs for the last view) was better, but I just get this one so I will give them a chance to listen it more careful. For now, I like a few songs-'A plea', 'No matter where you shot me down', 'I don't care' and ''Her occasion of sin'.
I love Rob Vitacca's voice so I will listen them no matter are songs good or not. xD
