Flymore – Millenium IV V
Russian born and bred Flymore recently released their much anticipated debut album titled Millenium IV V. There’s a lot of controversy about how Flymore sound exactly like the well known vegetable band Korn, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. With that being said, if you’re not a Korn fan, run like you’re a giant twinkie being chased by Rosie O’Donnell. But if you’re just curious like me, come on in…the water’s fine.
After a very brooding, dark theatrical “Intro,” Flymore give us “Misunderstanding.” The track opens with some sick and twisted heavy grooves that are funkier than George Clinton from Parliament Funkadelic’s nappy head. Guitarists Igor Mukhin and Nikitia Alekseev do a killer job recreating the old Korn quirks and twitches. Apparently Jonathan Davis has a clone in vocalist Max “Frozt” Morozov. Tone, style and sound, Morozov mimics Davis in every way. The track’s choruses are very big, melodic and extremely catchy.
“Wake Up” is a great track to get the blood flowing. With its really bottom heavy bounce, the song shows the sheer power of their sound. Crazy guitar licks are layered behind the funktastic bass and drum beats. Morozov does a great job keeping the song rolling with some air tight vocal lines. The end of the track sees Flymore break your face with a fantastic groove.
The first single and video is for “All The Time I Bled.” The almost industrial sounding guitar, bass and drums just pound away in the background while Morozov does his “thang.” At just under three minutes, this song is far too repetitive, and definitely shouldn’t have been the single. Honestly, it’s a poor introduction to a band that has much better songs that could have represented them.
Ever wonder what Orgy and Korn would sound like together? Well, “My Last Goodbye” is for you then. Dark keys are intertwined with bouncy drum lines and massively distorted guitars. Vocally, if Jonathan Davis (Korn) was to borrow Jay Gordon’s (Orgy) voice synthesizer, then you get the idea of what Morozov’s vocals are like. Honestly, it sounds like a track that would be highlighted on a teenage vampire movie.
As the album moves along, there a few standout tracks like “Insane” and “Live It Up.” Both of these songs take somewhat of a departure from the Korn sound, and really show what Flymore are capable of. Then you have songs like “Queen Of The Damned,” “Hold On” and “My Destination” that all sound like rehashed songs from the beginning of the album. Even the bonus track “Asylum” sounds like a combination of some of the other songs.
I have to say that Flymore are one of the most unoriginal bands that I have ever heard. But, with that being said, they do have some pretty solid songwriting skills. For fans of Korn who miss the old days (Korn, Life Is Peachy, Follow The Leader), you’ll find that Millenium IV V fits perfectly in your collection.

I can't believe how much they sound like Korn, and can't understand why a band would intentionally set out to sound JUST like another band…unless they're a cover band.

Fucking great review man. The Rosie O Donnell thing was funny as shit. Flymore sound exactly like Korn but they are still a good band. I wonder when they are going to make a new cd. I guess this one will have to do for now.
