Least favorite song on the album, but Oh, Sleeper’s worst is better than most bands’ best.

I like this song a lot, although in general the album was pretty much flawless to me. This video is pretty generic though, the comic book stuff was cool but most of it just felt beneath them to me.

Yeah, the video is pretty average. I haven’t even watched it all the way through yet and they’re one of my favorite bands. I guess that’s a bad sign. Or maybe I’m just too busy. haha

Jen: I was hoping for The Marriage of Steel and Skin or Husy Yael. Can you imagine a Hush Yael video?

Achantion replied:

Hush Yael or Children of Fire would have been my suggestios.
though I’m not sure if I’d like a video about what really happened in hush yael..

I agree that the story behind Hush Yael is probably too much for a video, but if done so that the actions that took place are not necessarily shown but suggested, it could make for a powerful video.

Jen replied:

I think it could have been done. Maybe with newspaper clippings and media coverage. You know, tastefully enough to respect Yael’s memory as well as her family’s, but strong enough to convey the intense emotion.

It was a little weird with the comic book stuff, but then their vid for “Son of the Morning” was weirder than this.
And good heavens, The Marriage of Steel and Skin would have been chaotic. That song is intense.

I’m not an Oh Sleeper fan at all but I liked this album a lot. This is a good track and just an alright video. One suggestion though…..Someone give old dude a shirt that isn’t torn. I’m not into sweaty dudes who show off their wolf chests.

Haha you should have seen him (I’m assuming you’re talking about Micah) at the CD release show. He started with one that was just slightly ripped and then after every song he would rip it just a little more. At the end of the show he was just wearing rags, which, to be honest, was kinda gay looking…
(Not that I have anything against gays. It was just an observation.)
It was still the best show I’ve ever been to.

Man, I wanna like these guys. But somehow I can’t help but shake the feeling that they are just another breakdown happy Christian Metalcore band.

Jen replied:

I despise generic breakdown metalcore usually. These guys aren’t your typical ABR clones, but you’ll have to give an album a listen to know that.

Holy crap….I just listened to Hush Yael, In The Wake of Pigs and Dealers of Fame. Wow. Now that was some of the best Metalcore I have ever listened too. These guys are way better then I originally gave them credit for.

Glad you gave them a shot! “Endseekers” really is a boring, dull, repetitive song compared to their others. I even mentioned that in my review (shameless plug): http://thenewreview.net/reviews/oh-sleeper-children-of-fire

JDS replied:

JD, they are anything but. They have a very dark feel to them, and Micah’s lyrics are some of the most powerful I’ve read. The few breakdowns they have are very tasteful.
Also, Shane Blay is a better guitarist than both of the guys from ABR combined.

It’s not hard to find a better guitarist then those from ABR, lol.
And yes ABR is boooooooooooooooooooooring, except for messenger they haven’t got a single album were I could sit trough more then 4 songs without falling a sleep haha.

Constellations is stellar. Messengers has nostalgic value to me. I get ABR isn’t the most talented band around and they’re easy to hate on because of the “scene” they have become a part of and the fans they attract, but they are one of the few bands I liked in high school that survived the purging. Can’t help it.
Plus, they are really cool guys.
