Finally, we are up and running…

Dear Lord, for a while there I didn’t think that this day was ever going to come. First and foremost, I want to thank Jennifer (my beautiful wife) and Redhead Design for the beautiful web canvas that you have created for us here. With multiple delays (one of which was our house getting supa-zapped by lightning), we finally are up and running with the site. I’m really excited to bring The NewReview to you guys (and girls…don’t worry, I’m an equal opportunity offender). I know that I have surrounded myself with some real quality people on this site. I believe in my heart that these guys share the same passion for music that I have, and I’m sure that you will see this as well.

I came up with the idea for The NewReview because I just got so sick and tired of seeing the “same ol’ same ol’” on all these music sites. Site A is mostly death metal. Site B is mostly commercial. Lastly, there’s Site C, who doesn’t know what it should be from one day to the next. And they’re all full of those people. You know what I mean…the “trenchcoat wearing, living in mom’s basement, playing World of Warcraft, shooting up a mall” guy, who thinks if it’s not blast beating death metal or black metal that it sucks. Or, you have the “mall moron, hot topic, skinny jeans, have a super stupid rat-ferret skunk colored hair cut” kid that watches Twilight and thinks Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance make the soundtrack for life. Can’t forget “meathead metalhead” guy, who bought four copies of Disturbed’s latest cd because “he just likes ‘em that much,” goes to shows with no shirt and his mouthguard, sporting his “Slipknot or Die” tattoo…yeah, they suck, too. THOSE KIND OF PEOPLE ARE RIDICULOUSLY CLOSE MINDED! It seems like these sites cater to certain people and certain style bands…well, not here, and not on my watch! I believe that if it rocks, WHO CARES?! I’m the kind of guy who can hear Linkin Park on the radio and jam out to it…then turn around and put in Carpathian Forest (that’s black metal for all you rookies out there- Ha Ha!). Cause that’s how I roll.

It’s not about how heavy or fast the music is, or how nasty the vocals are. It’s about just enjoying good rockin tunes, from one extreme to the next. Anywhoot, thanks for checking us out. If you decide to come back, awesome. Glad to have you. If you don’t, then that’s cool too. I’m sure you have some Dragon-Con convention or a mall to go to anyway.

For those of you that might be offended by what I just said…don’t be. With The NewReview, I want to bring all of us together. I enjoy trenchcoat, meathead and mall metal guy. As a matter of fact, I dig their music too. I’m just not in to that whole attitude of “my music is better than yours.” If you like a particular band, style of music or whatever, that’s killer. I don’t want you to feel like you’re going to come here and get ganged up on by people who disagree with you just because it isn’t “heavy,” “fast,” “dark,” or even “commercial” enough…like I see all the time. This genre of music is deep and wide. I feel like the family should be, as well.
