The Nova Echo is an electronically driven space-age rock/pop band from Asheville, a city in the mountains of Western North Carolina. At its core, the music has infectious pop origins but combines powerful guitars, ethereal synths, and complex vocal harmonies to create a space age, post rock sound.
The band is made up of six individuals, all with their own unique backgrounds in music and performance. Front-man and songwriter Caleb Hanks has been playing music since he was a child and has been in multiple rock and pop bands with regional success in North Carolina. Around 2003, he started producing his own electronic pop music in his bedroom as a side-project and by 2007 had written and recorded three full-length solo albums, as well as numerous unreleased b-sides. In 2007, he decided to pursue this side-project full-time.
Hanks contacted his long-time friend and local music producer Evan Bradford to help him construct a rock/pop-oriented band around his electronic solo work. After a year or so of lineup changes the members were solidified, and the band is now made up of six individuals, all with years of experience playing and performing in other bands and projects. Hanks and Bradford handle front-man and guitar/synth duties respectively, while Will Arledge (guitar), Matt Hixon (bass) and Lee Brooks (keys), and Jeremy London (drums) complete the band’s lineup.
During the summer of ‘09, the band went into the studio to record their self-titled debut album. With Hanks and Bradford at the production helm, the band set out to record music that could effectively compliment Hanks’ core theme: a lonely space traveler’s feelings on love, longing and companionship in the insurmountable distance of deep space. Despite the sometimes sobering lyrics, the album maintains a positive, upbeat vibe with messages of peace and hope.

The Nova Echo has a unique sound and style. They also are some of the most down to earth, amazing, friendly people you will ever meet. They truly love each and every one of their fans and would do anything for them. I hope everyone takes the time to listen to this album because it is amazing. We should expect so much more in the future. This is only the beginning of TNE.

Just happened to see these guys play live last year by chance, bought the CD and now they're one of my favorite bands. The songs are catchy and the lyrics are fun and optimistic. It really helped bring me out of a depressed state after dealing with my brother's suicide attempt.
I keep all 13 songs on my ipod plus the 80's covers I downloaded from their myspace page. I'm eagerly awaiting their next release and hope to see them play in Orlando again.
