Hailing from Montreal, Derelict incorporates the brutal and progressive elements of the Quebec metal scene with listenable structures and melody, resulting in an unforgiving yet accessible package. The band’s trademark sound has led to comparisons with the likes of Death, Strapping Young Lad, and Martyr.

The release of the Unspoken Words album through Year of the Sun Records marked a kicking off point for Derelict, with increased media exposure and critical acclaim.

“Our goal has always been to combine far-ranging elements of metal and music in general, and we feel that with this album we’ve gotten much better at doing that,” says vocalist Eric Burnet. “We’ll hit you with some brutal death metal, but infused with catchy melodies surrounded by progressive chaos and completely unexpected influences.”

With the help of constant touring covering all of Canada, and support for international acts such as Job For A Cowboy, Whitechapel, The Agonist, Ion Dissonance, and Threat Signal, the band is expanding its fan base exponentially and is making itself known as a force to be reckoned with.
