What is The NewReview?

We are a site that provides up-to-date album reviews, news, album streams and giveaways from bands in all subgenres of hard rock and metal. Oh, and yeah, it is “The NewReview”. Not “The New Review” or “New Review”. There’s really no good reason why. That’s just the way it is.

Another site with music reviews? Why?

Technical speak aside, we are just tired of the same old reviews from the same old music sites. Our biggest issues with those big name review sites? So glad you asked!

  • Too predictable, calculated, unfair and/or boring,
  • Designed in 1999, and haven’t been updated since,
  • Too “big” for the little guys,
  • Just grossly unprofessional (If you can’t spell-check before posting, why even bother?),
  • Only bothers to update on a weekly basis (or worse).

What does The NewReview have to offer that other sites don’t?

  • First and foremost, we focus on all genres of hard rock and metal. If it rocks, we’re on it.
  • We’re not going to put up “news” just because it’s out there. Not everyone cares about aging has-been rockstars or old leather-clad metalheads, so just because they have a new cd or are on tour, doesn’t mean Jimmy in Iowa wants to read about it.
  • We were the first site to include album previews with our reviews. We stream three thirty second clips for every single review we post. We refuse to post a review without them.
  • We post the “meat and potatoes”; we’re not going to waste your time with news that a band is “getting ready to shoot a video” or is “going to enter the studio.” We know people are busy. You don’t have time to read filler, and we don’t have time to post it.
  • We want to provide you with the experience of something fresh, new and different, while making you feel at home with every click of your mouse.
  • We do the digging. We find these “never heard of bands,” as well as talk about already established acts that people are familiar with.

So, in the end…

We have fun. This isn’t a job. This isn’t a hobby. This is a love for music that brings us all together. And it isn’t about being the biggest…it’s about being the best!
